SPENCER
- Freddie Spencer's High Performance Riding School is designed for riders of all abilities.
Taught by three-time World Champion Freddie Spencer, it uses a process of learning that
applies as well to novice riders who simply want to improve their street riding as it does
to racerswho dream of winning world championships. Freddie began his work in R&D in
1980, when he was hired by Honda of Japan to help them develop several 500cc Grand
Prix racebikes — bikes on which he also won multiple World Championships — as well as
the legendary Honda Interceptor in 1983. The engineers Freddie worked with in the '80s
are the same engineers responsible for building some of the Honda's latest sportbikes,
and that close bond with the motorcycles of today is what makes Freddie so committed
to helping riders understand the bikes they ride. His work extended to the development
of the first Michelin front and rear radial tires as well, building the foundation for today's
Michelin Pilot Sport and Pilot Race and giving Freddie the unique perspective and under-
standing of the most intricate aspects of motorcycle and tire performance. Transferring
this knowledge to you is what the Freddie Spencer High Performance Riding School
is all about.
QUICK WORD by Rob Doyle
I’m approaching the turn way too hot as I desperately look ahead to see my exit line. I
suddenly recall a voice reminding me to relax and trail the front brake while gradually
shaving off excess speed. It also helps easily steer the bike into the turn and I
remember to commit to the turn and have confidence in my lean angle. It all works so
smoothly and within just a fraction of that same moment I am comfortably through this
hairpin turn and I’m rolling on the throttle to the next bend up ahead.
What I formally learned on Las Vegas Speedway from Freddie Spencer High
Performance Riding School has just saved me from a possible mishap six months later
on this twisty upstate New York ride.

OLIVER - It is a common thought that if you ride on the street, you shouldn't
ride in the dirt. But actually, training in the dirt is the best place to
practice. The bikes are light and push you to ride them correctly.
The drills and riding students take part in during our courses only
help improve their overall skills, no matter where they apply them.
Once you learn to control a motorcycle on the dirt at a safe speed,
you can take that knowledge and experience and apply it to
whatever you ride or race.

FDU - Professional training can make motorcycling more enjoyable. In fact, learning life-saving techniques can increase your skills and confidence on the road.
The MSF curriculum focuses upon crucial safety skills, which studies have shown are lacking in accident-involved motorcyclists. Since 1973, the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) has set internationally recognized standards of excellence in motorcycle safety education and operating licensing.
This year, Fairleigh Dickinson University is proud to offer the MSF’s latest curriculum upgrades and training techniques. FDU is one of the few motorcycle safety training providers authorized to offer the MSF courses in New Jersey, and is the exclusive site in Bergen County.
Our MSF RiderCoaches (Instructors) are certified by the MSF and the State of NJ. They undergo rigorous training to become eligible to evaluate and coach students. They maintain their high standard of training by attending monthly workshops at FDU, as well as annual MSF and State of NJ updates.

CHRISTINE'S KICKSTART - I have developed and tested a unique teaching style, the training blocks of learning broken down to the simplest of mechanical tasks, practice set-up and drills, personal evaluations, trouble shooting, and the over-the-road program, for our beginner motorcycle training program, called “KickSTART”TM. Our outstanding 18 year success rate, with 98% of our students passing their NYS DMV Road Test, combined with our extraordinarily high safety and injury prevention statistics, stand as testament for the “KickSTART”TM training program.
To continue to promote & improve the education, service and availability of safe & enjoyable riding habits to riders, starting from a novice level, in the most effective and efficient means possible. By combining my lifetime (1979) of motorcycle riding, my out-in-the-field, hands on teaching experience (1986), with the research & data from national traffic safety organizations, compiled in an enjoyable, easy-to-follow, comprehensive, systematic Motorcycle Operators Beginners Riding Manual & Interactive DVD that can be obtained through our website.
Lee Parks' Total Control Advanced Riding Clinic is also now offered through Christine's Kickstart facility.
In today’s age of high-horsepower superbikes, large-displacement cruisers and super-heavy-weight tourers, riding skills are more important than ever for safe, fun motorcycling. Unfortunately for experienced riders, there is a large gap between the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s Experienced RiderCourse (ERC) and the many racetrack schools around the country. Many riders are interested in improving their skills but are unwilling to take on the additional risks associated with a high-speed environment. If you fit into the “I’m interested, but…” group, you’re not alone. In fact, if you add up all the attendees of all the race schools together, they only represent a tiny percentage of street riders. This is not to say they are not good schools. To the contrary, they have much to offer. But they are not for everyone. Fortunately, Lee Parks’ Total Control Advanced Riding Clinic (Total Control ARC) has a solution for those experienced riders “caught in the middle,” as well as those track-day junkies and racers who want to be able to further enhance their skills in a controlled environment with expert instruction.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON RIDER'S EDGE - The Rider’s Edge® New Rider Course was specially designed to give you the knowledge and the skills to ride with confidence—we’ll even supply the bikes.
The Skilled Rider Course is a six to seven hour course held entirely on the range over one or two days. The Course uses the proven curriculum of the Motorcycle Safety Foundation® (MSF) Experienced RiderCourseSM Suite, with some enhancements developed by Harley-Davidson enthusiasts. Participants use their own motorcycles, or rentals, to enhance the following skills: control at low speeds, risk management, limited space maneuvers, cornering judgment, stopping quickly in a curve, swerving and stopping quickly, multiple curve maneuvers and surmounting objects.
The only thing better than hitting the open road is sharing the experience with friends. But group riding requires a different set of skills than solo travel. And that's why we've worked with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) to develop the Rider's Edge®/MSF Guide to Group Riding -- a self-study video seminar that will show you, step-by-step, how to organize and ride in the ultimate group adventure. You'll learn ride planning and preparation, formations, hand signals, how to deal with road hazards and a lot more. Then you can test your knowledge with a multiple-choice evaluation included in the course materials.

|
Tip#1-GEAR - If you don’t have your own gear or you only have limited gear, remember to ask the school if
they supply their own. This may cost a bit more but when you’re out their on the track with 10-12 other riders
you’ll appreciate being fully protected.
|
|
Tip#2-BIKE - Most schools offer a selection of mid sized bikes and are sponsered by a specific manufacturer.
Find the school that’s right for you, focus on what you will learn and not what brand you are on. Okay, pipe down
all you brand loyal folk, most schools will also allow you to bring your own bike if you prefer.
|
|
Tip#3-TRACK - If you are ready for a track school then most likely you already know how to ride. So one of
the first challenges will be learning the track you are on. If you are in a group that has riders already farmiliar
with the track they will most likely be passing you in the beginning. Keep your line. They will adjust to you.
|
|
Tip#4-CLASS - You will probably spend a good amount of time in the classroom getting prepped for the track.
Learning where the turns are will make your experience so much smoother. Learn the signals that the instructors
will be giving you while you are riding. They will always be telling you what to do and how you are doing.
